Speech/Language Pathologist
Job Description
Purpose: Speech-language pathologist will work with the Individual Education Plan (IEP) team to help resolve communication disorders including the mechanical aspects of speech production, phonation, attention/memory, articulation and language processing that interferes with the individual student's ability to derive benefit from the district's educational program.
Responsible to: Director, Assistant Director and Coordinators
Date: February 2015
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree from an accredited college/university.
- Current Speech Language Pathology license issued by the Kansas Department for aging and Disability Services on file in the Central Office.
- A demonstrated commitment to career development and life-long learning.
Essential Functions:
- Knowledge, Skill and Abilities
- Serve as a resource to staff members and parents in the development of a balanced program for communication.
- Assist and guide teachers in observing, describing, and referring
suspected and identified speech and language delays/disorders. c. Participate in development of goals and strategies for educational
improvement.
- Provide any assigned paraprofessional with appropriate direction, supervision and evaluation.
- Ensure that all activities conform to state and district guidelines.
- Ensure that all activities adhere to the professional standards.
- Communicate effectively with all members of the school district and community.
- Work effectively with community organizations and outside agencies.
- React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned. j. Support the value of an education.
- Support the mission and philosophy of the ANW Education Cooperative.
- Comply with all district policies, rules and regulations.
